What's he done wrong? He can't understand what he's done wrong. Isn't this what Eduardo should want, for Mark to make note of the fact that yes, Eduardo's been the best, the dearest, the closest, the only one who really matters anymore. It's obvious to Mark, immediately so, that he's done something wrong, but he's just not sure what, suspecting perhaps that nothing's good enough anymore to patch things up between the two of them. At least, not for now. Maybe he should stop trying, put all efforts into suspension, but the dangerous thing about that is that once one puts so much effort into pulling everything to a screeching halt, it becomes doubly hard to start up again. There's a barrier to motion. Static friction. Mark's taken enough physics classes to get that much, and to know that it totally applies on a more personal, intangible level as well. Still. Hard to tell whether it's better to ignore or to overshoot. He's gone with the former for so long.
Maybe he'll go with it just a bit longer. If it isn't smashed to pieces, well. Don't break it further.

Most strippers strip because it's good money, it can be kept well discreet, but to elect to strip when there aren't any of the practical benefits suggests a psychological need. And anyone who says stripping as an occupation doesn't create a disparity in position between the stripper and the customer is far too idealistic. Volunteering to cook or clean for a group is different, it serves a greater purpose, someone can be proud of that. How proud can you say you are if your job is just to give a man uncomfortable tightness in his pants?"
