He chews, slowly. Because that buys him time. Each bite of his burger and each passing second brings back a bit of his sobriety, after all, and Mark doesn't need very much of it to start his thoughts again. Mostly, he's trying to figure out if he's still reading Eduardo right. There's no way that Eduardo, when he's from, wants to talk about facebook, or should have any reason for pushing Mark right back to the company. Mark understands the notion of morbid fascination and curiosity, and facebook itself kind of relies on that notion. People are much more willing to call others friends if that gives them the right to snoop around. So Mark gets that, but he doesn't think that Eduardo can be boiled down to something so base and simple, and that just makes him wonder, why is facebook coming up again? Is it because Eduardo's trying to help ease the transition period for Mark on the island?
Mark doesn't know. All he knows is that there's that light wrinkle of his nose as he looks up, swallowing another bite of his burger and downing some of his ice water before his slouch straightens just slightly, his body still swaying left and right.
"Can we stop?" he asks, abruptly, perhaps more plainly than he might have if sober. "Talking about facebook. Why are we talking about facebook? I don't want to talk about it. Tell me what you've been up to. People you've met. Things you do. Tell me that you still follow the weather."
